Our Sunday Afternoon Trip to Africa

Ok, these were really taken at Woodland Park Zoo.  The kids have fun but I can’t say I have an appreciation for zoos.  Animals need to be left in the wild! I didn’t like seeing an Owl, three other Bird of Prey, and a buzzard all tied up to a post.

This guy was ham’n it up for the camera

Advanced Intellectual Development – Toddler Years

I was recently bragging about my child’s advanced intellectual development.  He has excelled in the area of table manners as well as this video proves without a doubt.

Z and his Devilish Humor (at age 2)

I read the book “Moo Baa La La La” by Sandra Boynton to Zaeden today.  Since we have read this several times, he understands when to make the animal sounds.  Since it is a short book, here it is so you understand what is going on in the video.

A cow says Moo.  A sheep says Baa.  Three singing pigs say La La La.  No No you say that isn’t right!  The pigs say Oink all day and night.  Rhinoceroses snort and snuff and the little dogs go ruff ruff ruff!  Some other dogs go bow wow wow.   And the cats and kittens say meow!  Quack says the duck.  The horse says neigh!  All is quiet, what do you say?

(Disclaimer: Go buy the book)

Pretty simple ‘eh?

So I tried to get him to be more serious after a bit and this is the result:

Mid-Day Knight

For the past week and a half, the entire household has been sick with one illness or another.  We sent Z to school for one day prior to that and he has been sick ever since with a nasty crud of some sort.  At one point he sneezed and had a long strand of  slippery snot about the diameter of a pencil protruding from his nose down to his chest.   When he moved his head, the slick gob of germy goop  bounced around like a chartreuse gummy worm.

I yelled out,  “He sneezed his brains out!”

I heard my wife laughing in the other room and she replied, “Yeah, he did that earlier.”

As kids go, so does the spread of germs and they have no conscience about it.  Little Z will get right in your face and blast out the biggest Phhhhhtt! (Rasberry that is or for the truly disgusting audience a fake fart).  Yes, I was his latest victim and to be sure, if he did it once he did it ten times.  So I was laid up over the past weekend, totally useless laying on the couch.   I had much of the same crud the little disseminator of daycare disease such as, runny nose, cough, congestion, massive headache and nausia.

The wife however, seems to have been affected differently.  While she had much of the same symptoms up front, she lost her voice.  Since I typically leave for work early, she is left to take care of both kids; Z-monster and the 16-year old second grader. (Damn you Disney channel for making our 8 year old act like a spoiled teenager!) Not only does she have a 2 year old to keep out of trouble, she has a spirited  8 year old to get ready for school, without a voice.  All she was left with was whispers and squeeky sounds.

Yesterday, I went to work but was still not feeling well.  As the day progressed, my health did not.  I tried taking Tylenol Cold and Flu medicine but it did not help.  About mid-day, I felt nausiated and drained so I decided to go home for the day.  As I walked through the garage door into the laundry room I could hear a squeeky,  “Zaeden! NoOOooOo!”

I asked her what was wrong and she said in a frustrated squeeky whisper, “The dog puked on the floor, Zaeden is putting his toothbrush in the toilet and brushing his teeth and putting other stuff in there!  I am trying to go back and forth between the two and I just can’t!”

I sharply responded with, “I guess I have impeccable timing.  I’ll take care of the puke and you deal with Z.”

As descriptive as I can be,  I will spare you the details of the consistancy of the bow wow barf.   I can tell you the wife was appreciative of my timely arrival as I read this on twitter later:

Ugh. I can’t even shout “quit it,” when he’s throwing play doh everywhere. This place is trashed. At least he’s safe.

And a knight in shining armor walked through the door, right as the toddler was dipping his toothbrush in the toilet.
